Scouting the Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks
David Schoen: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Golden Knights-Ducks game: Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Washington Capitals.
Bridge deal likely for Rantanen
Adrian Dater: believes that Mikko Rantanen will only sign a bridge deal with the Colorado Avalanche after the season.
(Dater notes in his comments under the tweet that it doesn’t mean that Rantanen won’t be with the organization long-term term, just that a short-term deal is likely to be signed first.)
Edler’s agent on the pending UFA and his NTC
Rick Dhaliwal: Alex Edler’s agent on the pending unrestricted free agent: No talks with the #Canucks yet and yes Alex would like to resign with the Canucks, that would be his intent. The starter would be for Vancouver to take the 1st step and say that they see Alex in the future plans, he would be interested for sure.”
Rick Dhaliwal: Edler’s agent on the fans and media fascination on Edler waiving his no-trade clause before the trade deadline: “Fascination might be putting it mildly it’s an obsession.”
What teams could be looking to make a trade?
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 650 and was asked who else is looking to make a move like the Penguins and Kings did yesterday.
Friedman doesn’t think the Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings are done making moves. The Anaheim Ducks are looking at options, the Carolina Hurricanes are looking for offense and the Toronto Maple Leafs have unsigned William Nylander.
“But the teams that are probably the biggest hotspots are Anaheim, Kings, Pittsburgh, Toronto because they’ve got the one situation. And you watch, I’ll say that and you’ll put it to air and then five minutes later two teams with nothing to do with them will throw something out there.”
