No negotiations between the Sharks and Karlsson
David Pagnotta: The San Jose Sharks and Erik Karlsson have only had “general discussions” so far. Negotiations haven’t started and may not happen until after the season.
David Pagnotta: Despite no contract talks, the Sharks won’t be trading Karlsson.
Simmonds can’t do much about the off-ice talk
Adam Kimelman of NHL.com: Philadelphia Flyers pending unrestricted free agent forward Wayne Simmonds on the upcoming trade deadline.
“That stuff I can’t really do anything about,” Simmonds said. “Just come, play my game and I’ll try to control what I’m doing on the ice.”
Simmonds has had his name in the rumor mill and they will heat up with the trade deadline less than two weeks away.
Bowman on the reports that he’ll ask Keith and Seabrook to waive their NMCs
Tracey Myers of NHL.com: Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said they are just monitoring and gathering information with the approaching deadline. Bowman did say they are “prepared for a few different things.”
Bowman said that he won’t comment on reports that they’ll ask defenseman Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook to waive their no-movement clause.
