NHL Rumors: Stars and Seguins … Panarin, Panthers and Islanders

Aaron Portzline says "nope" to the Artemi Panarin to the Florida Panthers trade rumor that circulated yesterday.
Tyler Seguin’s camp and the Dallas Stars talked over the weekend

John Shannon: Heard that the Dallas Stars and Tyler Seguin‘s reps spoke over the weekend about a contract extension. Seguin will be back in Dallas tomorrow, so things could get interesting.

Josh Beneteau of Sportsnet: Last week Seguin had told reporters that he was disappointed that no talks were going on.

“Nothing’s really going on,” Seguin said last week at the BioSteel Camp in Toronto. “It’s been a little disappointing. I thought I’d have some exciting news to talk about at BioSteel Camp, especially this late in the summer. It’s been disappointing. But at the end of the day, I obviously have one year left here. I’m just going to focus on that.”

John Shannon said the sides met this weekend but didn’t know how they went.

Nothing to the Artemi Panarin to the Florida Panthers

Aaron Portzline: (when asked if the reddit rumor that the Panthers were close to acquiring Artemi Panarin) “Nope”

Jimmy Murphy: On the Panarin to Panthers trade rumor … Have been told by sources that there is nothing to it as of yesterday. One source did confirm that the Panthers are one of the teams that inquired about Panarin, but nothing was close or imminent.

The Fourth Period: Multiple sources have said that the New York Islanders are interested in trading for Columbus Blue Jackets forward Artemi Panarin.

The Blue Jackets have had trade talks involving Panarin since the draft in late June.

The Islanders have been looking to acquire an impact player and will continue to search as the season approaches.

Aside from Panarin, the Islanders have shown some interest in Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson and forward Bobby Ryan.

The New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks, and Florida Panthers have shown some interest in Panarin.
