NHL Rumors: Stars, Flames, Kane, Karlsson, Green, Maroon and Johnson

Jack Johnson and Patrick Maroon could be traded today.
On the Dallas Stars …

David Pagnotta: Could see the Dallas Stars acquiring a secondary scorer. The Stars need scoring depth and prefer a non-rental player.

On the Calgary Flames …

Roger Millions: Feels like the Flames won’t do anything today or that they will do something really big. They don’t have a first- or second-round pick this year and a second- and third-round pick next year.

On the Evander Kane

Paul Hamilton: “I’ve never believed Kane’s worth was what many were saying he was. Fair or not, his past will be held against him in the trade market.”

John Shannon: There is still the expectation that Kane will be traded today. The prices won’t be as high as expected.

On Erik Karlsson

Travis Yost: A team could trade for Erik Karlsson and Bobby Ryan, and then trade Karlsson in the offseason if they wanted. The could get back some assets they gave up and use Karlsson as just a rental for this season.

On Mike Green

Shawn Simpson: Defenseman Mike Green could be a good fit for a contender. Would be fun to watch Green in the Maple Leafs up temp system, but they struggle to defend and that is not his strong point.

On Patrick Maroon

Andy Strickland: The Winnipeg Jets, Nashville Predators and Tampa Bay Lightning have a strong interest in Oilers Patrick Maroon.

On Jack Johnson

Aaron Portzline: Acquiring Ian Cole makes it more likely that Jack Johnson will be traded today.

Aaron Portzline: Hearing that the Anaheim Ducks are interested in Jack Johnson.

Joe Smith: The Lightning have scouted the Blue Jackets all season. With the Blue Jackets trading for Ian Cole, wonder if the Jack Johnson market picks up. The Lightning like Johnson.
