The Boston Bruins would like a top right-handed defenseman. What about a Dougie Hamilton reunion?

Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta says the Boston Bruins would like to add top pairing right-handed defenseman. They tried to acquire Rasmus Andersson from the Flames, but he wouldn’t sign a contract extension. What about a Dougie Hamilton reunion?

Colby Cohen: “Don’t you remember when Dougie wanted out of Boston. And maybe he’s older and more mature now, but like, he didn’t want to play in that market. He didn’t want the scrutiny. He didn’t want that, you know that, what comes with, with playing in Boston.

And again, he was a young, young kid. Don Sweeney was at the helm still. I don’t think Peter Chiarelli was still, still running that team. I think Donnie Sweeney had already taken the team over with the whole Dougie Hamilton thing. So, that was not a good ending.”

Pagnotta: “Yeah. I mean, I don’t see, just financially, I don’t, I don’t see that being a fit. Because of, especially the way, like he’s having a down year, obviously, with respect to his capabilities.

And I think, yeah, they wanted to throw eight by eight or around that anyway, with respect to Rasmus Anderson on an extension.

Look, do they want to bring in somebody for that, for that right side, that can slot into that top, top two position on the right, on their blue line. It’s clearly evident that, yes, they want to.

You know, for Dougie Hamilton, yeah, I don’t know, the ending of that relationship wasn’t great. And I don’t know if that’s necessarily something that he would want to consider again, because I think there’s other options. There are other options that, that he would prefer.

But this one also comes down to money, you know for them. And is New Jersey willing to either retain a piece or take back a significant amount to make that kind of negligible?”
