It appears that the Red Wings will make players with term left on their deals available.
They’d likely only get a mid-round pick for Petr Mrazek. The Red Wings almost sent Mrazek to the Oilers earlier this season.
The likes of Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, and Andreas Athanasiou may be the only players they are not interested in moving.
Jimmy Howard has another year left at $5.3 million, with the Red Wings able to retain some salary. The New York Islanders might look at him.
One GM said the demand for goalies is low.
Would the Vegas Golden Knights be interested in Mike Green? GM McPhee has a history with Green. McPhee scouted the Red Wings last week, though he said he was just passing through on his way to the Top Prospects game.
Gustav Nyquist or Tomas Tatar might interest a contending team.
Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Pending free agent defenseman Mike Green said that there haven’t been any contract talks with the Red Wings.
“I don’t worry too much about the exact extension or what’s going on in that sense. I just focus on day to day,” said Green, the lone Red Wings representative at All-Star Weekend.
The right-handed defenseman is logging over 22 minutes a night and has recorded 26 points in 48 games.
This isn’t the first time that Green has dealt with trade rumors and free agency.
“I think I’ve learned, I just take care of the process and things will guide you to where you need to be. That’s how I’m focused,” Green said.
“I would love to be . Whether that happens, there’s so much uncertainty in this league, you just don’t know.”
