The Toronto Maple Leafs may not replace fired assistant coach Marc Savard

Pierre LeBrun: The Toronto Maple Leafs fired power-play coach Marc Savard yesterday and it’s sounding like they won’t bring in a replacement at this time. It can always change at a later date, but they’ll go in-house for now.

The Maple Leafs aren’t there yet, but Pete DeBoer could be the top candidate

NHL Watcher: Chris Johnston on the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching situation: “I would think DeBoer would be the main target if they got there, but at this point I have no reason to believe they’ve got that far.”

NHL Injuries: Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Oilers, Kings, Islanders, Kraken, Canucks and More

Do the Dallas Stars have the assets to land both Rasmus Andersson and Blake Coleman? Probably not

Frankly Hockey: Frank Seravalli, on the Dallas Stars having interest in Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson and forward Blake Coleman.

** NHLRumors.com transcription

Seravalli: “But you mentioned Blake Coleman, and I’m glad you did, because he is a Dallas native, and that’s the next thing that everyone’s going to put together. As I can confirm that the Stars are one team that definitely has interest in Rasmus Anderson on the blue line. But should they just get some one-stop shopping done, if you’re Jim Nill? Hey, you don’t need to go to the mall this holiday. You could just call the Calgary Flames and get Blake Coleman, Dallas native who would love to go home, and Rasmus Anderson in one shot.

Now, as great of a story as that would be, my concern, from a Calgary standpoint, is, yes, the Dallas Stars have the cap space to pull this off, but my big question would be, do they have the assets? Do they have the picks and prospects in order to pull this off in one fell swoop?

NHL Rumors: 20 teams have inquired about Blake Coleman

I’m less, less convinced that that would be the case. I’ll say that, that I think the Stars may only have enough bullets in the chamber to really get one of these guys. And why is that? Because sources indicate that 20, two-zero teams of the 31 others in the NHL have called the Calgary Flames on Blake Coleman already this season.”
