Some potential targets for the Maple Leafs
Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star: The Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to forwards Chris Kreider and Luke Glendening, and defenseman Adam McQuaid.
The cost to acquire anyone on deadline day may cause it to be a quiet day in Leaf land. They don’t want to take away from their current roster.
The Leafs might consider adding a little toughness – depth on the blue line or up front.
Five potential trade targets
Chris Kreider – Another year left at $4.625. Would be costly but not a rental which GM Kyle Dubas isn’t overly interested in adding.
Luke Glendening – Bottom-line player that can kill penalties. Has ties to coach Mike Babcock.
Adam McQuaid – Right-handed defenseman with size, strength and experience.
Kyle Clifford – Have talked to the LA Kings about the physical winger.
Wayne Simmonds – Toronto native with a physical game.
Panthers interest in Stone may not have lasted long
Frank Seravalli: It sounds like the Florida Panthers are one of the teams that have looked at Mark Stone over the past few days.
Don’t believe that there would be any promise of a contract extension which likely cooled any trade talk.
Ceci getting some interest
Darren Dreger: The Ottawa Senators healthy scratched defenseman Cody Ceci and forward Mikael Boedker.
Darren Dreger: There are multiple teams that are interested in Ceci.
Puck Pedia: Ceci is a 25-year old right-handed defenseman. He’s a pending RFA at a $4.3 million salary cap hit.
– 20P in 57GP,
– on ice 37% 5v5 Goals
– 45% Expected GF
– 43% Corsi (xGF/Corsi 2.9%/3.1% lower relative to teammates)
– 0.9 P/60
Ceci has been mostly used with weak teammates, and against higher quality competition you’d expect, with defensive zone and score usage, so it’s important to control for all of those things to get his individual ability, that is to say, atrocious. pic.twitter.com/MDdJhDCmBr
