Sportsnet 590: Chris Johnston confirmed on Sportsnet 590 that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas was meeting with William Nylander‘s agent yesterday: “The fact that there’s an open dialogue tends to be a healthy sign of where things are at.”

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1290 radio and downplayed that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas was at the New York Rangers – Calgary Flames game on Sunday night.

“If I had to guess, I would say that Kyle Dubas was in Manhattan to talk to Lewis Gross, the agent for William Nylander, and going to a game is what Kyle Dubas does and likes and I wouldn’t overtly be reading too much into the Ranger-Calgary angle as much as the possibility that Dubas was there to talk to Lewis Gross.”

Bob McKenzie: Two things on Dubas being in New York at the Rangers-Flames game.

“1. William Nylander’s agent Lewis Gross lives in Manhattan.
2. Dubas likes to go to hockey games.”

Pierre LeBrun: Confirm that Nylander’s agent Lewis Gross was also at the Rangers-Flames game. Gross also represents Flames Johnny Gaudreau.

Darren Dreger: Dubas and Gross were seen talking before the game.

Adam Kimelman: Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas was in Philadelphia last night watching the Flyers-Avalanche game. He would only say that he likes to get out and watch games. The Leafs are off until tomorrow.

Nylander practicing with Dornbirn EC

Maple Leafs Hot Stove: William Nylander is practicing with Dornbirn EC while he awaits a new contract. Dornbirn coach Dave MacQueen was on TSN 1050 yesterday.

“We offered him a contract but we couldn’t afford the insurance policy, let alone pay him the contract . In all honesty, he just came in and fit in. I know he was on the phone a lot, which I would expect he would be, but other than that, I had a feeling he wasn’t going to be around for the rest of the week, but he didn’t say one way or the other what his plans were.”

MacQueen on showing NHL highlights from TSN and Sportsnet in the Dornbirn dressing room with Nylander being there.

“Over here, we don’t get a lot of North American highlights, so I’ve got an app on my computer that I can put on Sportsnet or TSN. So I went to him and said, “listen, William, I put the NHL highlights on for the boys in the morning because it’s really our lifeline over here. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable because obviously, they’re talking about you a lot.”

He said, “No, no, I love watching the highlights. I love watching the Leafs highlights. Go ahead and put it on.”
