There should still be some names available at the trade deadline

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) There are still a bunch of games to be played before the trade deadline, and more teams will decide they’re sellers. There’s worry of a quiet deadline, but the likes of Artemi Panarin, Kiefer Sherwood, Rasmus Andersson, Blake Coleman, Alex Tuch, Justin Faulk, Jordan Binnington, and Dougie Hamilton could be made available.

Patrik Laine could be an expensive depth piece for the Montreal Canadiens or they could look at moving him

Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) Patrik Laine’s return to the Montreal Canadiens lineup isn’t imminent, as he’s not taking contact. When he is ready to return, it’s not known where he’ll fit into their lineup. He could be an expensive depth player, or they make him available for trade. He’s in the last year of his contract at $8.7 million. The Canadiens may not want to retain any salary, but might consider it depending on what else is included in a deal.
