NHL Rumors: Oilers-Habs, Ducks, Hamhuis, Avs and Sens

The Colorado Avalanche and Tyson Barrie continue to talk

On the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers …

Ryan Rishaug: The Montreal Canadiens asked the Edmonton Oilers for the No. 4 pick, Leon Draisaitl, Oscar Klefbom or Darnell Nurse and more for P.K. Subban.

On the Cam Fowler and the Anaheim Ducks …

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Ducks Cam Fowler thought he’d be traded by now.

“You hear your name tossed out there. I’ve heard that before even at recent trade deadlines, but this time with the position the Ducks are in and some of the salaries, it just seemed like it was pretty real. I was 100 percent prepared for something to happen and was honestly pretty surprised when it didn’t.”

Fowler trade talk has quieted down since the draft. LeBrun thinks that Fowler could remain with the Ducks next year unless someone increases their offer.

Jason Brough: Even if the Ducks trade Cam Fowler, Kevin Bieksa‘s no-movement clause could cost them Simon Despres in the expansion draft.

On Dan Hamhuis

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Dan Hamhuis said that it’s looking like he’ll be headed to free agency on Friday. Hamhuis would like to remain in Vancouver and he could still re-sign, but they haven’t even offered him an extension.

On the Colorado Avalanche and Tyson Barrie

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Avs made Tyson Barrie a contract extension offer at the draft. Don’t get the sense that it was seen as good enough. The Avs don’t really want to trade him.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Ken Warren: The Senators were interested in Justin Schultz back in 2012, and he could be an interesting UFA to watch for the Sens.

Ken Warren: Senators GM Pierre Dorion on free agency: “We have to be careful. On July 1, sometimes we do things that we end up regretting. I don’t think it will be a very busy July 1 for us. We’re still looking to add, possibly, maybe, one depth defenceman”
