Several Vancouver Canucks are in the rumor mill, and Kiefer Sherwood knows he’s one of them
Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet: Vancouver Canucks pending UFA forward Kiefer Sherwood knows that his name is in the rumor mill.
“You know, I love it here and I love this group here, and I just want to continue to take it day by day,” Sherwood told us. “I guess it’s just part of the gig. You’ve got to be professional and you have a job to go play. You try to have a good mindset through it all.”
Canucks president of hockey ops Jim Rutherford said this week that they need to get younger and that he’ll listen to calls on their pending UFAs – Sherwood, Evander Kane, Teddy Blueger and Derek Forbort – but he’s not looking to trade everybody.
Defenseman Quinn Hughes will be eligible to sign a contract extension this offseason, so he’ll need to decide if he wants to remain in Vancouver or work his way to New Jersey to play with his brothers.
