NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins

Daniel Sedin and Alex Edler are two of eight Vancouver Canucks who have a NTC or NMC
On the Vancouver Canucks …

Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning said that he won’t ask any of his players who have a no-trade clause to waive it unless they asked to be moved.

“I’m not doing it. I’m not going to any one of them to ask them to waive their no-trades,” Benning said. “If they come to me, I will accommodate it and find a trade.

“But otherwise I’m not going to ask any of them to waive.”

The Canucks have eight players with no-trade or no-movement clauses – Henrik and Daniel Sedins, Alex Edler, Jannik Hansen, Ryan Miller, Alex Burrows, Brandon Sutter and Loui Eriksson.

Botchford notes that he knows of at least two teams that could likely make bids on both Henrik and Daniel Sedin at their full $14 million cap hit. It may be the type of move that is better suited for the offseason. More teams could be interested if the Canucks were to retain salary in a deal.

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Multiple sources saying the Bruins have spoken with the Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders among others about Ryan Spooner. Spooner wants to remain with the Bruins and is trying to block it out.

“I try to just put it in the back of my mind. When I was 17, I went through the same thing . I definitely want to play here,” said Spooner. “I want to help out and that’s kind of where I’m at now. If I play like I did , I think I’ll be fine. I just want to go out, I want to help out, and that’s kind of where I’m at right now.”

The Bruins are now looking for a scoring, top-six forward in any trade that involves Spooner.
