If the Vancouver Canucks want to tank, they need to move out some key pieces

Sekeres and Price: Rob Williams on the Vancouver Canucks needing to trade Kiefer Sherwood and Thatcher Demko if they want to tank this season.

“Kiefer Sherwood. Who doesn’t love Kieffer Sherwood and the way he plays. He’s got to go, right? Like he’s, he’s going to be a UFA. He’s got value. He’s having a career year. He’s got to go. You’ve got to move out enough pieces.

I think Thatcher Demlo is probably the biggest key. Like, I don’t know if you if you can trade him, but if you can, isn’t that an important guy to move out to help the tank right now? Like that’s like him in the lineup really hurts your it really helps your chances of winning. It hurts your chances at tanking.”

The Philadelphia Flyers and Minnesota Wild have held trade talks

Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff: After Philadelphia Flyers forward Tyson Foerster went down with an injury that requires surgery and ended his season, the Flyers explored the trade market.

Sources have said that the Flyers and Minnesota Wild talked about a potential trade involving Ryan Hartman. Hartman has another year left at $4 million and a 15-team no-trade clause.

His name was in the rumor mill before the Quinn Hughes trade, as the Wild may have been looking to move salary out. After the trade the Wild have about $8.3 million in projected cap space and may not need to trade him. If the Wild make another big move, they could still move out Hartman’s salary.

The Wild have had interest in Flyers forward and Minnesota native Bobby Brink. He’s a pending RFA with a $1.5 million cap hit.

The Flyers aren’t in a rush to move Brink, but he may not be in their long-term plans given their organizational depth on the wing.

NHL Rumors: Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Calgary Flames

The Flyers had earlier kicked tires on then Wild forward Marco Rossi, but the Wild were asking for Foerster, which the Flyers turned down.
