On the Vancouver Canucks …
Omar A: Canucks President Trevor Linden on TSN 1040 when asked how active the Canucks will be at the trade deadline.
“I think just to go back 30 months ago when we kind of got into this, we realized we were headed for a pretty significant transition. I think there’ve been some encouraging things this year with the emergence of Stecher and Tryamkin, Bo, Markus Granlund and Sven. We wanted to get younger, we needed to get younger, we needed to improve our prospect pool.
Just like last year we’ll go into the trade deadline looking to add picks – that would be nice. We definitely aren’t looking to move any draft picks.
I think it’s important to note too, the trade deadline doesn’t make or break your team. It’s a team building exercise. You build your team through trades, drafts, and college free agents etc., so again, we’ll be in the conversations and these are complicated scenarios.
You need a willing trade partner, you need a player cooperation. So it’s not as easy – we all make trades in our heads and they sound pretty simple.”
Omar A: Linden on 1040 on if they’d consider bringing back pending UFA Ryan Miller next year.
“I will say I wouldn’t rule out Ryan coming back. It’s a situation we will look at at the end of the year and see where we are and see where Ryan is. He’s been everything we could ask for for sure.”
