On the Calgary Flames …

Kristen Odland of the Calgary Sun: Flames GM Brad Treliving on the expansion process and what it’s done for the Flames offseason preparation and approach.

“There’s some newness to it, how it’s going to affect how business gets done,” Treliving said. “There’s a drag a bit on the market from what would normally be taking place when you’re talking to teams. But we’re dealing with it, and it’s created some interesting discussions and it’s an interesting time for everyone.

“We’ll see how it plays out for everyone in the next week.”

The Flames will likely protect 7-3-1 as opposed to 8-1.

Pete Jensen of NHL.com: Flames GM Treliving on the

“There’s lots of activity,” he said. “We’ve had one significant trade (Jonathan Drouin to Montreal Canadiens). I think there will be others prior to Saturday, and then I think you’re going to see a hub of activity in that 72-hour period before the trade window closes with Vegas. I take it all part and parcel. There will be activity after that up to the entry draft and after the entry draft.

“It’ll be a busy summer, like they all are. This adds a different layer and another layer. I think you’ll see movement as a result.”
