On the Montreal Canadiens and the Vegas Golden Knights …
Habs Links: Pierre LeBrun of TSN 690 on the Montreal Canadiens and the expansion draft process.
“My feelers this morning were that the Canadiens were content to sort of stay in the weeds for the rest of this Vegas thing and then re-surface afterwards. So, in other words, everything goes back to normal after Thursday and I thin that was probably the Canadiens plan. They were happy to lose whoever they were going to lose, whether that is Davidson or Emelin – I think those are the two names I’ve been hearing the most connected to Vegas – but it could certainly be Plekanec or Charles Hudon as well.
Whoever they lose, they lose and in terms of trading for a defenseman I wonder if they wouldn’t at least have called George McPhee and see what it would take to get in on Scandella or whoever else and I’ve got to think that phone call did happen, but I don’t get the sense that’s the route right now. Again, that could change but right now I have a feeling the Habs are happy re-surfacing on the side of the whole Vegas thing and then starting to deal with other teams”
On the Anaheim Ducks and the Vegas Golden Knights …
Maple Leafs Hot Stove: Pierre LeBrun on TSN 1040 on the Ducks deal with Vegas.
“I think it’s 100% that Josh Manson is staying in Anaheim. I don’t know on Vatanen. You’re hearing a lot of different things that perhaps some people think he’s going to Vegas. Some people believe he’s not. I’m having a hard time nailing down which one it is. There is definitely a deal in the works between Vegas and Anaheim, but what can possibly be that enticing to potentially stay away? Is it a first-round pick in 2018, or is it one of their top prospects? Especially if they’re taking Clayton Stoner, which is the other rumour. There is a lot of play there, but we’ll just have to see on Wednesday.”
