NHL Rumors: Vegas Golden Knights with some Senators and Kings

It doesn't look like the Vegas has side deals with the Ottawa Senators and LA Kings

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

James Mirtle: Vegas has to be over the salary cap floor in their first season and they have to add “60% of cap figure” ($43.8 million) through the expansion draft.

James Mirtle: Vegas won’t have any trouble getting to the salary floor with all the bad contracts they are looking to take on for assets.

Pierre LeBrun: Don’t think the Ottawa Senators were able to reach a deal with Vegas before their imposed deadline. Do they circle back before Vegas’ list is submitted?

Pierre LeBrun: Don’t think there is any protection on defenseman Marc Methot.

Burce Garrioch: There was some talk that there were eight deal in place (on Monday) with none being with the Senators.

John Hoven: Confirmed that the Los Angeles Kings didn’t make any last minute deals with Vegas. They are fine with seeing how the draft pieces fall.

Nicholas Cotsonika: Vegas Golden Knights GM George McPhee is liking the team they will be putting together.

“I think it’s going to be a pretty good team,” McPhee said, smiling. “We’re happy that we’ve got a lot of defensemen, we’ve got really good goaltending, we’ve got a lot of centers and we’ve got scoring on the wing. We should have good speed.”

McPhee will submit his list of selected players by 10:00 AM ET. Some players they select they hope will be there for awhile, while others will be selected to be traded.

“I don’t know that the terminology is the right terminology, but people call it throwaway picks,” McPhee said. “There are some teams where there isn’t a whole lot to do, and you’re going to make a throwaway pick rather than taking on a contract that you don’t like. So there will be some of those claims, people that won’t be qualified and that sort of thing.”
