Brian Hedger: Spoke with a source last week that said he expects the Golden Knights will be very interested in acquiring assets for not selecting a certain player.

Frank Seravalli of TSN: If Vegas owner Bill Foley wire the NHL his final installment of the $500 million expansion fee on or before the March 1st trade deadline, Vegas will be able to make trades.

Vegas could acquire a draft pick, prospect or future considerations to not select a specific player during the expansion draft.

There were three trades made like this during the Blue Jackets – Wild expansion draft. The Sharks made two deals for both teams not to select Evgeni Nabokov.

The Golden Knights are not eligible to acquire an active player during the 2016-17 NHL season. It excludes players who are listed as out for the this season.

They will be allowed to sign college and CHL free agents.

Vegas will also get an All-Star game in the near future.

“I’m certain we didn’t commit on a date, but I think our intention is at some point in the earlier days of the franchise as opposed to 20 or 30 years down the road,” Bettman said Saturday. “I think we could have fun in Las Vegas with an All-Star Game.”
