Teams are calling the Anaheim Ducks about Mason McTavish
Kevin Weekes: Sources are saying that Anaheim Ducks forward Mason McTavish is getting a lot of attention and teams are calling. Have been told that for the Ducks to move him, it would have to be a quality ‘hockey trade’ for them to do it. He’s got skill, upside, grit and term left on his contract.
Tampa Bay Lightning Couldn’t Sign Darren Raddysh so the Toronto Maple Leafs Pounced
- Marco D’Amico: Sources have said that the Ducks would likely be looking for a top-four, right-handed defenesman in return for McTavish.
- Marco D’Amico: “However, if a package can be built when they can bring in a sustainable 2C and a young top-4D in the same age range as the core, such an option is not off the table either.”
Top Buyout Candidates
Frank Seravalli of Hockey 24/7: A look at the top four buyout candidates.
1. Jesperi Kotkaniemi – C – Carolina Hurricanes – Would be an under-25 buyout, so only a third of the value.
Contract: 4 years remaining at $4.82 million AAV
Buyout: 8 years x $851K
2. Ondrej Palat – LW – New York Islanders – They don’t really need the cap space, but if they feel he’s blocking a roster spot, he could be an option.
Contract: 1 year remaining at $6 million AAV
Buyout: 2 years: $2.7 million, $1.7 million
3. Pierre Engvall – LW – New York Islanders – Would save ownership $4 million over the course of the deal.
Contract: 4 years remaining at $3 million AAV
Buyout: 8 years x $1 million
NHL Rumors: Nashville Predators, and the Winnipeg Jets
4. Kaedan Korczak – RHD – Vegas Golden Knights – The Golden Knights need to create some cap space to re-sign Pavel Dorofeyeve and/or Rasmus Andersson. Healthy scratched for the first five games of the Stanley Cup Final. Not a big savings for next year, but for the following years it is. If they buy out next year, it’s a $1.1 million for six years.
Contract: 4 years remaining at $3.25 million AAV
Buyout: One year at $2.5 million, then seven years at $458K
Also Under Consideration: J.T. Compher (Detroit); Brandon Tanev (Utah).
Buyout Proof: Darnell Nurse (Edmonton); Tristan Jarry (Edmonton); Cody Ceci (Los Angeles); Chris Tanev (Toronto).
