Host: “Let’s stay out west, Elliotte, as we move on over to Calgary. Nazem Kadri, I think even from the beginning of the season, his name was kind of in the mix. What’s the trade market for him right now?

Friedman: “I know I’d heard at the end of last week, Lauren, after they made the deal, obviously the big one for Rasmus Anderson, that things had kind of calmed down around the Flames a bit.

Colorado Avalanche Remain Stanley Cup Favorites Despite Skid

Now I do think for some of their guys, Kadri being one, Blake Coleman being another, potentially even somebody like MacKenzie Weegar, who has control over his situation. I think those are names are all going to be discussed.

Zach Whitecloud, I think they wanted to have a conversation with him first before they committed to anything. But I do believe there’d be interested in him too.

You know, the thing about Kadri, like I absolutely think there’s interest in Kadri I absolutely think that he’s a player that’s being discussed.

But the thing that Calgary has to deal with here guys, is that till June 30th, they only have one more retention slot, like they’ve got Markstrom and Anderson tied up until June 30th. So if you look at all these players on their team who still have term, they can only retain on one more until the end of this NHL year.

NHL Rumors: Dallas and Calgary Talking Nazem Kadri

You know, I do think at different times they’ve had teams call them. You know, Montreal, I think has kicked around Kadri periodically. I think there have been, I know Dallas has been rumored a bit. The only thing with Dallas is if they keep Robertson or a big salary, I don’t know if they have the ability and the flexibility to do this. So I’m not as certain about Dallas. You know, Montreal has definitely been a team, and I think there have been a few others, but the biggest issue there is retention.”
