NHL Rumors: Will Craig Anderson Return to Colorado?
The Ottawa Senators are looking to trade goaltender Craig Anderson.

Rumors are suggesting that Craig Anderson could be making a return to Colorado Avalanche, a team he played at before being traded to Ottawa Senators for Brian Elliot in February 2011. Anderson returning would be a great addition to the team as they look to strengthen their squad for the NHL. Anderson had previously played one and a half seasons for Colorado, before being traded to Ottawa. His first spell with the Avs began when he signed back in the 2009/10 season. In his first season, the Goalkeeper went 38-25-7 and had a 2.64 GAA. He had a .917 save percentage and 7 shutouts, helping his team into the playoffs, which was a surprise for a lot of people. Anderson was the 4th goaltender in his team’s history to win 30 or more games. However, when it got to the 2010/11 season with this team, he lost his starting position to Peter Budaj. His record slowly worsened and then that is when Colorado decided it was time to trade him off to Ottawa Senators, which was a strong trade for them.

Performances playing for the Senators started to pick up and we were starting to really see Anderson shining once again. After spending season after season at the club, it wasn’t until 2018, when Anderson requested a trade from Ottawa, which he wanted to do quietly. He then suffered a lot of bad press when he was part of an altercation with Mike Hoffman, in which Mike later departed from the club. Anderson wanted to use this moment now to focus on Hockey.

It appears that now the rumors have now escalated once more over the future of Craig Anderson and he is expected to leave Ottawa soon. However, it appears that the Avs are not the only team interested in getting his signature, which is not what they want to hear. Anderson can offer some great value to any hockey team right now and that is why there are interests from other teams. It is said that a few weeks back, Toronto also enquired about the Goalkeeper as they look to improve their squad.

The trade deadline is fast approaching, a week to go before the deadline on Monday. Over the Christmas holiday period, Anderson returned to his hometown of Florida, which is actually another possible destination for him. The Florida Panthers are being considered as a popular choice for Anderson. Anderson has a wife and 2 sons who live nearby the Panthers and that could prove to be a pivotal factor in his decision. He does have the previous history of playing there, however, it is whether he fits under their salary cap, which doesn’t look that likely.
