Ottawa Senators winger Mark Stone could be an option if he’s not re-signed.
If looking at a player with term, the Jets may have to watch the salary as they have some pending free agents that need new deals – Jacob Trouba, Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor – and Blake Wheeler‘s extension kicks in next season.
It could be a buyers market this year. If someone overpays, it could change the asking prices.
The Jets may not be looking to move a roster player unless the ‘right’ player becomes available. Their 2019 first-round pick could be available.
Jets saying no when teams ask about Roslovic
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1290 and was talking about the Winnipeg Jets and their bottom-six forward group. Jack Roslovic had a four-point night over the weekend, but that may not be enough to change GM Kevin Cheveldayoff’s trade deadline plans.
Their top guys have carried them most of the season, so they’ve got a plan and are likely sticking to it.
“And I think when I say nothing changes, it’s because all of these teams that want to deal with the Jets now – the guy that they’re up and asking about is Roslovic. They’re not stupid. They look at the thing over the course of the season – they look at his minutes. They see sometimes he’s there on the fourth line. And that’s the guy they want to get out of there.
“And the Jets are like, ‘No, no, no. We’re not going to do that.’ At least that’s my understanding so far, is that that’s been a non-starter for them.”
