The Arizona Coyotes have traded defenseman Michael Stone to the Calgary Flames for a 2017 3rd round pick and a conditional 2018 5th round pick.
The Coyotes are also retaining 50 percent of the Stone’s salary.
The condition on the fifth round pick is if he is re-signed.
CapFriendly: With the Coyotes retaining half of Stone’s $4 million cap hit, the Flames will only be on the hook for $544,000.
Stone was drafted 69th overall in the third round of the 2008 draft by the Coyotes.
Renaud Lavoie: “Brad Treliving knows Michael Stone well. Worked with the Coyotes before being name Flames GM.”
Craig Custance: “Coyotes retain 50 percent of Stone’s salary which I assume they’d be willing to do on all rentals to max return.”
