The Philadelphia Flyers have traded winger Ryan Hartman to the Dallas Stars for winger Tyler Pitlick.

The 24-year old Hartman was drafted 30th overall in the first round of the 2013 draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. This is Hartman’s fourth team in three years. He is a restricted free agent.

The 27-year old Pitlick was drafted 31st overall in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft by the Dallas Stars. Pitlick has one year left on his deal at $1 million.

Thoughts from the media

Josh Clark: “Hartman, 24, is an RFA. Has played for CHI, NSH, and PHI since being drafted 30th overall in 2013. Physical guy that can get under the opponent’s skin and can contribute depth scoring in the process.”

Cap Friendly: “Tyler Pitlick is in the final year of a 3 year deal that carries an AAV of $1M, at which point he’ll be a UFA next summer. Hartman, who was acquired from Nashville at the Trade Deadline, is a pending RFA with Arb rights, and under team control for more 3 years.”

Adam Gretz: “Ron Hextall got fired because he didn’t make enough trades so Chuck Fletcher is just going to make 100 small trades that don’t really do anything.”
