Part 1: P.K. Subban talks with Sportsnet Eric Engels about the trade that sent him to the Nashville Predators.
Eric Engels of Sportsnet: Canadiens owner Geoff Molson.
“I have a lot of respect for P.K.,” Canadiens owner Geoff Molson told Sportsnet Wednesday afternoon. “But I also have a lot of respect for Marc for having the courage to do something he knows is unpopular. It was directly related to trying to improve the hockey club for this season.
“Obviously we’re going to all live with our decision and hope for the best.”
Analytics favors Subban over Shea Webber, and a source told Sportsnet Canadiens analytics consultant Matt Pfeffer made an “impassioned and elaborate presentation” in an attempt to dissuade management from making the trade. Pfeffer was informed yesterday that his contract wouldn’t be renewed.
Part 2: “Engels tackles whether some of the perception of P.K.’s character is actually reality, and whether he’s concerned at all with the current racial climate in the U.S.”
