The New York Rangers have traded forward Wojtek Wolski to the Florida Panthers. According to Darren Dreger the Rangers will receive a 2013 3rd round pick and minor league player Michael Vernace.
Wolski carries a $3.8 million salary cap hit, and will be a RFA at the end of the year. Vernace carries a $525,000 cap hit.
Darren Dreger via twitter: One of the reasons the Panthers traded for Wolski is the fact that he’s very good in shootouts.
Jesse Spector via twitter: Trading Wolski frees up cap room, get a good return for him, and it gets rid of a player their coach had no use for.
