Some potential free agent targets the Toronto Maple Leafs could look at

Leafs Morning Take: David Pagnotta, when asked what forwards the Toronto Maple Leafs could look at when free agency opens.

Nick Alberga: “Give us a general scope of July one from the Leafs perspective. Who are some names to monitor on the Leafs front?

Pagnotta: “For guys up front, you know, you’re looking at Boone Jenner. You’re looking at Mason Marchment. You’re looking at Eeli Tolvanen. And as potential fits, you know, for, for the group. Jenner is effectively 3C in that role, and there is some versatility there because you can play wing. There are no 2C available, so if you’re trying to address that, you’re going to have to go the trade route.

NHL Rumors: Rangers, Nikishin, Zuccarello, Trouba, and Kane

You know, Mason Marchment provides, you know, the opportunity for a 25-goal scorer with some physicality that you can intertwine within your mid-six. He can play second, he can play third line, you know, he can play situationally on the power play, depending on how you deploy him. That’s, that’s a player that I think would have interest.

Tolvanen, and you’re adding more skill, and he’s a little bit younger. He’s 27. So there’s skill there, there’s offense there. His game seems to be improving even further, but you’re realistically looking at him again as another mid six caliber player, and you hope he goes off. And you’re kind of taking a bit of a chance in that regard, but there is actually, you know, decent amount of interest there.

So those would be probably the top three that I would, I would look at in terms of fortifying your, your mid-six, you know, kind of kind of vibe there.

Are there some, you know, physicality that you want to add to your fourth line. If A.J. Greer becomes available, if he doesn’t sign in Anaheim, you know, that would be a target on my end. Ryan Lomburg as well, would be a target.

Top Toronto Maple Leafs Prospects: Rankings, Analysis & Projections

Because I heard Rosie, what you were talking about earlier, you want to have some guys to protect some of these kids that are coming in, especially the number one pick. You’re going to need those types of players, not only on the ice, but in the room as well. Those guys are glue guys. If you can add one of them to the mix, I think that’s something that Toronto would like to do.
