Dunn could return for Game 2 … Thomas is fine

Elliotte Friedman: St. Louis Blues coach Craig Berube said that Robert Thomas is fine for Game 2 and that defenseman Vince Dunn is a possibility.

Tippett comes at a good price for the Oilers

Pierre LeBrun: It is believed that Dave Tippett‘s deal with the Edmonton Oilers is worth between $2.75 and $3 million per season. A good price for the Oilers considering what some recent coaches have signed for.

Mark Spector: The Oilers and Paul Coffey have parted ways. He was a skills/development coach.

A couple of player signings

Cory Lavalette: The Carolina Hurricanes have signed 2018 6th round pick Jesper Sellgren to an entry-level deal. He is currently on a pro-tryout and playing with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).

Max Bultman: The Detroit Red Wings have officially signed Finnish defenseman right-handed Oliwer Kaski.

Florida Panthers: The Panthers have signed forward Rodrigo Abols.

Maple Leafs extend Keefe

Michael Traikos: The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Toronto Marlies head coach Sheldon Keefe to a two-year contract extension to remain with the AHL team.

At worst he could be the Maple Leafs coach by 2021-22.

Chris Johnston of Sportsnet: The Maple Leafs doubtful to stand in Keefe’s or anyone’s way if they were to be offered a higher up position.

“If there’s an upward move for anybody in our organization, I think we would never stand in their way and hold them back,” he said. “This contract isn’t really done to prevent that or anything of that nature. It’s just with them playing late again and a lot of the jobs closing already, it’s a bit of a double-edged sword for Sheldon in that way.

“You know, if there were an upward move that people wanted to talk to him about and that he wanted to explore, he’s earned that. We would never stand in his way.”
