Sabres to hire Krueger

Lance Lysowski: Sabres assistant coach Steve Smith will likely remain with the team after the hiring of Krueger. Smith was with Krueger in Edmonton for three years.
Mike Harrington: “A few weeks ago, Ralph Krueger told @PierreVLeBrun any NHL return almost certainly would NOT be as a coach. Seems relationship to Botterill family — added to the connection with the Pegula checkbook — changed Krueger’s thinking. Interesting out-of-box hire. Not a simple retread”

“I’ve had no desire to leave what we’ve started here”
Blue Jackets sign Bemstrom
Aaron Portzline: The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Emil Bemstrom to a three-year, entry-level deal. He led the Swedish league in goals with 23 and was 14th in points with 35. Bemstrom will challenge for a roster spot.
Two Blackhawks prospects sign AHL deals
Scott Powers: Chicago Blackhawks prospects Liam Coughlin and Jack Ramsey signed one-year AHL contracts.
CapFriendly: “Coughlin & Ramsey were set to become FA on Aug 15. By signing 1 year minor deals with their AHL affiliate, the #Blackhawks indirectly hold onto their signing rights and ability to offer them an NHL contract for one more year, as well as save two spots under the 50 contract limit.”
