Connor McDavid did not break his leg but MRI still looms
Mark Spector: Edmonton Oilers and NHL fans alike hold their collective breath as Connor McDavid appeared Sunday without crutches. MRI expected later on Sunday or Monday will be telling as far as the extent of his leg injury. However, right now it is all good news considering the speed at which Connor McDavid crashed into the net.
Jesper Fast has surgery on the thumb at last
Dan Rosen: Fast hurt the thumb in February but just had surgery on it to repair torn ligaments and a fracture. The forward expects to miss six weeks and will be ready come training camp.
Rocco Grimaldi making progress but it may not be fast enough
Thomas Willis: Grimaldi expects to practice with Nashville soon. However, there exists concern as to whether he can suit up for Game 1. Also, Grimaldi has been out since March 23rd with the upper-body injury.
Valeri Nichushkin still ill but could be a healthy scratch anyway
Dallas Morning News: Nichushkin has a fever for bagels — no goals and no penalty minutes this season. He missed the last two games due to illness and might miss more time even if his condition improves.
Brian Dumoulin is expected back for Game 1 against New York
Pittsburgh Post Gazette: Dumoulin’s lower-body injury caused some uncertainty as to when he might return. That cleared up on Sunday when it was revealed that the Pittsburgh defenseman is likely to play in Game 1. Dumoulin lines up next to Kris Letang which is great news for Pittsburgh. The most he will do for fantasy rosters is pick up blocks and a few shots mostly.
Kevan Miller gets good news on his injury
Boston Herald: Miller was hampered by an upper-body injury for the past little while. He expects to practice on Monday before his Game 1 outlook is assessed. The picture is worse for John Moore and Sean Kuraly. Both will be out for Game 1 at a minimum.
