Quick hits on Crosby, Boucher, Panthers, Nikitin and the salary floor
Mark Easson
Josh Yohe via twitter: Would have to assume the Penguins have protected themselves with insurance for Sidney Crosby’s contract. Will have to wait for contract details to come out to know for sure.
Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer: Hurricanes backup goalie Brian Boucher will have shoulder surgery that will keep him out for 4 to 6 months. Boucher appeared in only 10 games last year, mainly due to a groin injury. Justin Peters could be ready to step in as the back up next year.
Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Panthers put Mike Santorelli on waivers, and Matt Bradley on unconditional $125 waivers.
Aaron Portzline via twitter: The Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Nikita Nikitin to a 2 year deal worth $4.3 million. He’ll make $1.8 million next year, and $2.5 million in 2013-14.
Andy Strickland via twitter: The salary floor will be $54 million, and is one reason why half the league is losing lots of money. Owners will want the cap to come down and revenue sharing to go up.
