- Elliotte Friedman: Sergei Federov, CSKA Moscow’s GM, said there were talks about Ryan Johansen, but he did not and won’t be making a contract offer to Ryan Johansen. Federov added that they needed to know if there was a commitment by the 18th. He didn’t want to be viewed “as interfering” since there wasn’t an agreement.
- Pierre LeBrun: Ryan Johansen’s agent said that they’ve received “several offers” from the KHL over the past couple months, but they will remain focused on getting a contract done with the Blue Jackets.
- Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: The Blue Jackets have had the same take it or leave offer on the table for Johansen since June, two-years and $6 million.

- Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun: Michael Frolik is keeping an open mind with regards to signing a contract extension with the Jets before becoming a UFA at the end of the season.
“With the negotiation, there was some talk with my agent, but he always said just try to be calm. He said we’ll get this deal done before the arbitration and that’s what happened,” said Frolik, who had 15 goals and 42 points in 81 games last season. “I’m happy with the deal and we’ll see what’s going to happen in the future.
“We were talking about in the longer term too but a couple of numbers didn’t match up. I am happy here and if something came up longer-term, I would be happy to do it.”
- Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun: Senators Bobby Ryan will be held out again today with a potential concussion after getting his ‘bell rung’ on the weekend.
“I talked to the doctor and he said we’ve got to wait and see if symptoms appear,” he said. “They haven’t. I said after I came off I felt fine two minutes later and haven’t had any issues like that since. I think that they’re positive there won’t be, but I guess symptoms can come for 24 hours or whatnot. I haven’t had any.”
