- Brian Costello: The Flames could get a better return in a trade for Jonas Hiller than they could with Kari Ramo. Would the Flames be comfortable with a Ramo-Joni Ortio pairing if Hiller is moved a team like Buffalo?
- Jonathan Willis of the Edmonton Journal: Willis notes that we’ve already seen injuries to two goalies (Jakob Markstrom and Robin Lehner) and there will likely be more, so it may not be too long before a trade opportunity arises for the Oilers involving recently demoted Ben Scrivens.
- Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: (answering question) The Bruins player that could be on the trading block if they really struggle and look to partially blow things up could be David Krejci. He’s signed long-term, and has dealt with some injuries.
- Rob Vollman of ESPN: Looking at some available UFAs and where they could fit in.Curtis Glencross – Carolina
Erik Cole – Arizona
Derek Roy – Minnesota
Jan Hejda – New Jersey
Lubomir Visnovsky – Florida
Sean Bergenheim – Boston
David Booth – San Jose
David Moss – Pittsburgh
Tomas Kopecky – Washington
- CSN Philly: (Polling Tim Panaccio, Tom Dougherty and Tim Riday) What Flyer is most likely to be traded by the deadline day.Panaccio thinks it will be Matt Read.
Dougherty thinks it will be Luke Schenn. He’s not as bad as he’s made out to be and is in the final year of his contract.
Riday thinks the Flyers could sell high on Mark Streit. He’s a valuable defenseman that has two years left on his deal at a manageable cap hit of $5.25 million. The Flyers got a first round pick from the Lightning for Braydon Coburn, and if GM Ron Hextall could get a similar deal for Streit, he might jump on it.
- Risto Pakarinen: The KHL is negotiating with a Swedish team (not known which one) about expansion.
