- John Boruk: Flyers Vincent Lecavalier expects his future with the team for next season should be clearer by the draft.
- Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Lecavalier basically said that he and head coach Craig Berube could not coexist if Berube returns.
“It’s fair to say,” said Lecavalier when asked if his best chance to be successful was to stay here if Berube is fired or move elsewhere if the coach returns. “He’s got his views and he showed that,” he said. “I think 17 or 18 games, I was scratched, so it’s going to be tough to change his mind. But we’ll see what happens.”
Lecavalier has three years left on his deal and is owed $10.5 million. The Flyers could buy him out. Lecavalier said they haven’t mentioned anything too him.
- Randy Miller: Flyers coach Craig Berube doesn’t know if he’ll be back coaching next season, and he doesn’t know when he’ll find out.
- John Boruk: Flyers Michael Del Zotto said that he loves it in Philly, but said that he wants to be paid fairly.
- Jeff Pini of the Boston Globe: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli told forwards Gregory Campbell and Daniel Paille that they won’t be re-signed by the team.
“I’ve spoken with Dan Paille and Gregory Campbell and I told them that we won’t be re-signing them,” Chiarelli said. “There’s more questions that we’ve got to get answered first before we make determinations on . We’ll see where that sits as kind of the day, the week unfolds. There’s time to make decisions, there’s time to go through the planning process, there’s time to look at various rosters and players and unfortunately we have a lot of time that way.”
- Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen: “We’re still very hopeful Mike Reilly is going to join our team and sign with us. He’d be a big, big addition.”
- Aaron Portzline: Have been told that if Mike Reilly is going to, he’s not likely to de-commit from the University of Minnesota until when their spring classes are over, May 8-9. If he does file the appropriate papers on say the 10th, the Blues Jackets would have until June 9th to get him signed. If they don’t sign him by then, he would become a UFA. Was told yesterday that Reilly is still “greatly considering Columbus.”
- Adam Proteau: Was talking to an agent who wonders (order remaining the same) if the Maple Leafs send the No. 4 pick and Dion Phaneuf (retaining salary) to the Oilers for No. 3. Under this scenario, the Leafs would get Dylan Strome and the Oilers would get Phaneuf and Noah Hanafin.
- Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs Dion Phaneuf said that he’s expecting to be back with the Leafs next year, but added that he can’t predict the future.
