- TSN: Darren Dreger reporting that the Oilers are interested in trading David Perron and they could be looking to get a top line center for him. Perron has two-years left on his deal.
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Unless GM Craig MacTavish has a change of heart or someone above tells him to make a change, Dallas Eakins’ job appears safe. They are looking to make a trade or two. Adding a No. 1 goalie could help. Adding a first pairing defensman would also be good. The Oilers could also use a No. 2 or 3 center. MacTavish knows he has to do something.
Goalie options could be: Antti Niemi – would the Sharks take Viktor Fasth and a young forward or defenseman? … Josh Harding.
Center options: Patrick Berglund – Blues might be looking for some depth on the blueline. Brayden Schenn – though the Flyers would likely want to get a top-flight Dman if they are considering trading him. Vinny Lecavalier – may not have much left, and the Flyers would need to eat some salary. Lars Eller – Canadiens would be interested in Perron, but a second line winger for a third line center may not be an even trade. Stephen Weiss – has groin issues and three years left on his deal after this season.
- The Fourth Period: The Oilers are looking to make a move or two. They have been shopping Jeff Petry and David Perron and have taken calls on players like Jordan Eberle. Perron won’t get the Oilers a top-line center. The Kings have received some calls on Mike Richards, but nothing appears to imminent. The Maple Leafs are open to trading Nazem Kadri, but trade talks have been calm. Some executives have told the Fourth Period that the Oilers should look to improve their goaltending and poor defense over upgrading their centers. The Oilers have been linked to Keith Yandle, Tyler Myers, Zach Bogosian and Jake Gardiner.
- Ryan Rishaug: Not expecting a coaching change for the Oilers. GM MacTavish still looking for a center. He needs to shake things up.
