- Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times: Lazerus thinks that Patrick Kane could be finished with the Blackhawks. It is not known if the Blackhawks are seriously considering trading him, but if they are, there may not have trouble moving him. There have been at least five teams that have contracted the Blackhawks about Kane since it was reported that the Kane was under investigation – that they would be interested in trading for him if the Blackhawks wanted to move on according to a league source. Kane’s eight-year, $84 million contract starts this season.Kane has yet to be charged, but remains under investigation by police and the district attorney’s office.
Another source has said that Kane had been warned by the team to not put himself in any more bad positions.
Lazerus on how it may not be a bad idea to trade Kane:
Yes, you’d lose one of the best players in the world. Yes, a segment of your fan base would be livid. But you’d get a massive haul in return. You’d free up a massive amount of salary-cap room. And you’d earn a massive amount of respect for putting your foot down and saying enough is enough.
One team source said that Kane has “disrespected” the organization and teammates once again, and they team may have run out of patience with him.
Do you think the Blackhawks should trade Kane? If they do look to trade him, what do you think they could get for him?
