- Andy Strickland: The Jets and Blackhawks have some level of interest in Chris Stewart.
- Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said that he’s held “regular talks” with other GMs and is not close to a trade.
- Elliotte Friedman: Was told yesterday morning that the Blue Jackets were not that keen on trading Artem Anisimov.
- David Pagnotta: The Oilers, Jets, Flyers and Maple Leafs are fairing active in the trade market. Not sure if the Blue Jackets make a move this week, but the “irons are in the fire.”

- Cap Geek: Adding to Nick Kypreos’ speculation on a potential Mike Richards trade, there are notable recapture repercussion. The Kings will carry most of, if not all, of the penalties ranging from $2.2 million to $2.6 million in the event of a trade/early retirement. Recapture table.
- Kevin Kurz: Sharks Tommy Wingles on the coaching rumors (McLellan on the hot seat): “Those reports irritate us as a team, I think. Me specifically, I don’t think they’re warranted.”
- Shawn Simpson (TSN 1200 radio): The Oilers and Senators could make a big trade involving Jordan Eberle and Craig Anderson. Simpson adds the Senators almost signed Justin Schultz. Marc Methot doesn’t have much value unless it’s a trade and sign.
- Ed Tait: Scouting the Jets-Sabres: Seven teams including Tom Watt (Leafs) and Rick Dudley (Canadiens)
- Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Coyotes Antoine Vermette is one of top pending UFA centers. He currently makes $3.75 million.
“I can see I’m in the last year of my deal, and everybody knows that,” Vermette said. “I try to leave that off to the side, but it hasn’t been a major thing for me. I think once you get going, you’re really focusing on the next game, which is great. You get on the road, you play quite often and you put that aside. It hasn’t been such a big deal.”
The Coyotes hope to re-sign Vermette, but talks have been tabled.
- The Kings and Alec Martinez are working on contract extension. The Kings are looking for something similar to Jake Muzzin’s $4 million a season deal. Teams are calling the Kings about Jordan Nolan in attempt to get bigger. Nolan has been a healthy scratch, and when he gets in the lineup, he’s not getting the minutes. Nolan is in the last year of his deal. The Kings are not in a rush to move him.
