- Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Post Dispatch: With Kevin Shattenkirk out for a while, the Blues could look at bringing in a defenseman. Potential targets that are believed to be available: Zybnek Michalek, Tyler Myers, Dion Phaneuf, Cody Franson, Mike Green, Keith Yandle, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Andrej Sekera, Jordan Leopold, Jeff Petry and Kimmo Timonen.
- Rich Chere of NJ.com: Devils Jaromir Jagr could be dealt at the deadline, but it’s unlikely that he’ll approach GM Lou Lamoriello.
“I feel I don’t have to ask. If it’s good for the team, I’m gone,” Jagr told NJ Advance Media on Monday. “If they feel like they’ve got a good offer, they’ll trade me. I don’t have to ask.
“Do we still have a chance (at making the playoffs)? I don’t know. Regardless, it’s out of my control.”
“I don’t pay attention to the deadline. I’m a professional. I just work even harder than I did before,” Jagr said. “If I stay here, I stay here. If I don’t, I still have to be ready. If somebody trades for me, they’ll expect me to be good. And if I stay here, I have to be good. So I have to work harder than ever to make sure I’m good.”
- The Fourth Period: The Ducks would like to add a top-line left winger and a top-four defenseman. Multiple league sources are saying they have shown interest in Taylor Hall and Evander Kane. They won’t be in on Kane unless he’s still available in the offseason. The Ducks have been linked to Drew Stafford and Antoine Vermette. Blueline targets include Marc Methot, Andrej Sekera, Zbynek Michalek, Cody Franson and Tyler Myers.
- Patrick Williams: The Jets re-signing Michael Frolik won’t be easy as the market is thin, the Jets playoff situation and the pending loss of Evander Kane.
- Adam Vingan: Barry Trotz on the trade deadline: “I would tell you all of our needs, but I’m not going to, because then everybody would know and hold us hostage.”
