On the Nashville Predators …
- Scott Burnside of ESPN: Burnside wonders if Predators GM David Poile would make a “bold, out-of-the-box move” and consider trading Shea Weber. Weber doesn’t have no-trade protection due the offer sheet he signed with the Flyers.
- Would Poile or Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli do a Weber for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle? Or Weber for RNH and Leon Draisaitl?
- Burnside brings up the Blue Jackets and Ryan Johansen, and the Penguins Evgeni Malkin or even Sidney Crosby if thinking outside the box.
On the Montreal Canadiens and San Jose Sharks …
- Joe Pack of Sportsnet: Eric Engels reported yesterday that Zack Kassian was asked by the Canadiens to not report to the AHL. Elliotte Friedman said last night that it’s possible that they trade Kassian and that there are a few teams that are interested. Teams are doing their background checks on him. The Sharks might be a team interested in Kassian, with assistant coach Bob Boughner having Kassian in Windsor during the 2009-10 season.
- David Pollak: Pollak adds to Friedman’s Kassian note that Sharks GM Doug Murray is a believer in second chances.
On the Philadelphia Flyers …
- Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Carchidi wonders if the Flyers should consider trading Michal Neuvirth if they get the right offer. Neuvirth has a .937 save percentage and his trade value has never been higher. If the Flyers are able to package Neuvirth with Vincent Lecavalier for a high draft pick and a backup goalie, it would make sense. Carchidi brings up the Canadiens.
On the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs …
- Craig Custance of ESPN: The Flames have been tied to Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier, but don’t bet on than one as they need a goalie who can stop pucks now, and Bernier isn’t that guy. He’d be a good reclamation project for someone, but that doesn’t make sense for the Flames right now.
On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
- Steve Simmons on the Toronto Sun: Simmons notes that the Maple Leafs have no plans to take advantage of Leo Komarov’s hot start to the season and trade him. They would likely only trade him if they got an offer that blows them away.
