Saku Koivu has left the Montreal Canadiens and signed a 1 year deal with the Anaheim Ducks. Koivu will earn $3.25 million next year. It was apparent that the Canadiens weren’t going to sign him, especially after they for some reason traded for Gomez and overpaid for Cammalleri.
Saku will most likely center fellow Fin, Teemu Selanne. Many, and myself included, thought Saku might sign with the Minnesota Wild and finish his career playing with his brother Mikko. I’ve never really been a fan of Saku, and thought he was a bit over-hyped in Montreal, and not a #1 center. That being said, we should be a decent 2nd or 3rd line center with the Ducks.
