- Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Shane Doan will speak with potential Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison today over the phone. Doan will hopefully gain some insight into the status of Jamison’s bid to buy the team. If he doesn’t come away reassured, talks with other teams will increase.
“We’re expecting some type of announcement or debriefing (Friday) regarding the ownership group, and hopefully we get good news and (General Manager) Don (Maloney) and I can start putting pencil to paper,” said Doan’s agent, Terry Bross. “If we don’t, I think we’re going to start to negotiate with some of the other clubs.”
16 teams have expressed interest, 6 have made formal offers.
“I say there are three or four that he’s very serious about,” Bross said. “There’s probably two more that he has a lot of interest in.”
“I wouldn’t be shocked if we had a decision next week,” Bross said.
- Aaron Ward via twitter: Indications are the Red Wings are out on Doan as the asking price is to high.
- Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: A 3 year deal is the lowest term he’d accept, and it will likely take a 4 or 5 year deal. A list of interested teams are the Penguins, Flyers, Red Wings, Sharks, Canadiens, Rangers and Canucks.
“If it’s not the Coyotes, and we hope it is, we’re not going to chase the market,” Bross said. “You look at what happened last week. Shea Weber signed an offer sheet, but did not go to Philadelphia, and Rick Nash was traded to New York. The whole landscape changed. We have no problem slowing this train down.
“The teams that have been interested in , have all been great and understanding. No one has put pressure on him looking for an answer. The teams have been a pleasure to deal with.”
He won’t visit Vancouver as he’s already familiar with the area.
