TSN: The Edmonton Oilers have placed Sheldon Souray on waivers.
Souray has 2 years left on his contract with a cap hit of $5.4 million, but a salary of $4.5 million. The 33-year old defenseman’s no-movement clause expired yesterday.
The Oilers have been trying to move him for some time.
Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: The Blue Jackets are not interested in claiming/trading for Souray. They have had talks with the Canucks. Kevin Bieksa was drawn interest from the Blue Jackets in the past.
