The Boston Bruins could use someone like Simon Nemec

Nick Goss of NBC Sports Boston: The Boston Bruins could use some scoring help up front, a top-six forward. They could also help their scoring by adding some offensive help to their blue line.

One defenseman they could look at is New Jersey Devils pending RFA Simon Nemec. There are conflicting reports if he’s asked for a trade or not, but regardless, the Devils need to make some sort of decision with Nemec.

Nemec is a great skater, can move the puck and likes to shoot. The 2022 second overall pick put up 11 goals and 15 assists in 68 games last season. Throw in that he’s a right-handed shot, and he’s worth the gamble for the Bruins.

Potential Trade Options for the New Jersey Devils

Could there be some teams looking to trade their first-round pick to move up or for an immediate player?

Daily Faceoff: Steven Ellis wonders if there are going to be some teams looking to trade their first-round picks to either move up in the draft, or potentially to add a player.

“Well, I think with the Blues having three first-round picks there, I think really helps there. You know, they’ve got 11, they’ve got 15, they got 31. Could they package two and move up a bit, and could they move 15 to 31 and get, let’s say, 12. Could they move 11 and 15 and get into the top 10?

I think when you look at what Gavin McKenna, he’s probably the guy that most teams are thinking is number one, but number two really varies depending on who you talk to. Which kind of like team needs.

So I think there’s some opportunities here for a team little later in the draft to maybe move up.

Does Florida keep their pick? Like, I think there’s an argument that both them and Winnipeg should be able to bounce back next year. And you think maybe they can go out there and use that pick and either move up and just get immediate help.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard Negotiating a Contract Extension

Like in Winnipeg’s case. I think it’s very intriguing here, where it’s like, okay, like Connor Hellebuyck, he’s in the trade rumors right now. You’ve got almost prove to this core that you want to be competitive right away. Are you going to get a player at number eight that’s going to make that happen, or can you find a way to trade up a little bit, move into fifth or sixth, and get someone who might be a bit more impactful right away? I think that’s interesting.

Do I believe any team in the top 10 is going to make a trade? Absolutely not, because it basically never happens, but I think you know there’s at least some good arguments for it this year.”
