Trade: Jets Acquire Jay Harrison From The Hurricanes

The Winnipeg Jets have sent a 2015 6th round pick to the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Jay Harrison. The pick they sent originally belonged to the Senators.

The Jets put Jacob Trouba on the IR retroactive to the 14th. They announced earlier today that Mark Stuart will be out until February. They are also without defensemen Tobias Enstrom and Zach Bogosian long-term, and needed to act quickly in acquiring a defenseman as the Christmas roster freeze was about to go into effect.

The 32-year old Harrison was drafted 82nd overall in the third round of the 2001 draft by the Maple Leafs. He carries a $1.5 million cap hit and salary, and is under contract until the end of next year.
