NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks – Edler, Vanek, Tanev, and Hutton

Vancouver Canucks: Thomas Vanek could be moved. They won't ask Alex Edler to waive.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Rick Dhaliwal: Doug Maclean on Sportsnet 650: “I think the will be active with secondary type players. If you’re going to move a Tanev type, he’s a player lots of teams would like to have and would command a high price but don’t you want Tanev on your team? I wouldn’t move him.”

Rick Dhaliwal: Have been told that the Canucks haven’t asked Alex Edler to waive his no-trade clause and they will not ask him at this deadline.

Farhan Lalji: Thomas Vanek said he expects there to be some trade talks involving him, but his agent hasn’t heard anything specific yet. Vanek added that he would welcome a chance to play for the Cup.

Farhan Lalji: Vanek said that he’s been traded in the past and it doesn’t guarantee anything. He is also fine with staying with the Canucks and trying to help them establish a new culture. There have been no contract talks about a possible extension.

TSN Radio Vancouver: Bob McKenzie on Thomas Vanek: If I was going to project out what’s likely to happen for the by the deadline, I’d would say trade Thomas Vanek for a draft pick. That’s what I think will happen…and far closer to the deadline of 3 eastern than now.”

TSN Radio Vancouver: Ben Kuzman doesn’t think the Canucks could more than a third-round pick for Vanek.

TSN Radio Vancouver: Bob McKenzie on defenseman Chris Tanev: “Vancouver doesn’t have interest in trading Tanev, but he’s not an untouchable. So they’ll listen if anyone calls. The only true untouchables are Boeser and Horvat, and arguably Edler because he controls the process with a no-trade”

Farhan Lalji: Spoke with defenseman Ben Hutton who is frustrated with all the healthy scratches. When asked about a possible trade and getting a fresh start someone else: “Ya maybe… I just want to play.”
