It’s safe to say that it’s not really an impressive group of pending left-handed unrestricted free agent defensemen. It’s possible that the days of finding a top pairing defenseman in free agency are gone.
There are a few 27-, 28-year-olds in Logan Stanley (Jets), Mario Ferraro (Sharks) and Jeremy Lauzon (Golden Knights), who will interest some teams, and possibly get a more term than the others.
Penguins Ryan Shea is 29 and a bit of a late bloomer in his third season, and first thime that he’s played in over 40 games. At the time of writing, Shea has the most points among pending UFA left-shot defensemen.
