On Matt Duchene …
- Mike Chambers of the Denver Post: The Colorado Avalanche say the Matt Duchene trade rumour is just a rumour. Landeskog to Chambers.
Dutchy realizes that these are rumors that are always going to be floating around. We saw the same thing with Paul Stastny for the two years I played with Paul. There’s always going to be rumors flying around. There’s nothing to it and we’re just focusing on hockey games and I know Matt feels the same way.
- Chambers has a “strong feeling” if there was talk between Colorado and Ottawa on Duchene, it would have been last month when he couldn’t find the net. Chambers believes Duchene will continue to grow with the young stars on the team.
- Dennis Bernstein of the Fourth Period: (Answering question) Could solve the issue on the left side of Getzlaf / Perry. Assuming Fowler would be the defenceman to move.
- Sam Carchidi of Philly.com: The Flyers have too many centres for their own good, and they have several of them playing on the wing. They don’t have enough quality centres and need a No.2 guy. Duchene would be the perfect player to slot as the Flyers No. 2 centre. However, the Flyers are in cap hell, currently $660,000 under the cap maximum of $71.4 million. After the Flyers get cap relief next year, they could trade one of their top defensive prospects and another player for a player like Duchene.
On Patrick Marleau …
- Sportsnet.ca: A potential trade involving Patrick Marleau might have to wait. Friedman:
His reputation is good. If he plays hard, there’s going to somebody at the end of the year who’s going to look at it and say, ‘Maybe this guy can help us win the Stanley Cup.’ That’s when I think things will heat up as we get closer to the trade deadline.
On James van Riemsdyk …
- Dennis Bernstein on what it would cost to acquire JvR: Top four defenceman to start.
