On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
- Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star: Looking at five Toronto Maple Leafs that could be traded at the deadline, potential trade partners and the possible return.
- James Reimer: The Canadiens and Blues might be interested. Possible return is a first round pick, no worse than a second round pick. Reimer is a UFA at the end of the season. Injuries to Carey Price and Jake Allen are reasons as to why the Canadiens and Blues could be interested.
- Roman Polak: The Blackhawks, Islanders, Rangers, Kings and others could be interested. Possible return is a second round pick. Polak is a pending UFA.
- Leo Komarov: The Capitals, Stars and Sharks could be interested. Return could be a second round pick.
- Michael Grabner: The Blues, Lightning and Wild could be interested. Possible return could be from a 3rd to 5th round pick.
- Joffrey Lupul: The Kings, Sharks and Blues could be interested. Return could be from a 3rd to 5th round pick.
On the Winnipeg Jets …
- Gary Lawless: Recapping from TSN 1290 radio hit on Tuesday: Dustin Byfuglien’s agent and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff met last week in Minnesota. There appears to be a push on. Cheveldayoff is trying to grind as much term and money off of the early asking prices for both Andrew Ladd and Byfuglien. Will Cheveldayoff be able to get both re-signed or will the budget only allow him to sign one? Wonder if Cheveldayoff could sign Ladd to a six-year, $6 million per year deal and Byfuglien to five-year, $7.5 million per year deal (or around those numbers)? Or will he have to look at trading both players? Trying to keep both players and be able to live within the budget is not easy.
On the Boston Bruins …
- Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger said that Loui Eriksson “is going to want similar money to what Andrew Ladd is looking for.” Ladd could be looking for a six-year deal at around $6-$6.5 million per season. Not sure if the Bruins could stomach that. If they are not, they will have to consider the potential trade market.
On the New York Islanders …
