Michal Neuvirth – Philadelphia Flyers – two years, $1.625 million cap hit

When Neuvirth signed a two-year contract with the Flyers it didn’t seem like a big addition at the time, but it has proven to be just that.

To the surprise of many the Flyers are in the midst of a heated race for the final playoff spot and Neuvirth is a big reason why.

While he is sidelined with an injury now, he split starts with Steve Mason for most of the season and played exceptionally well in said starts.

In 31 games Neuvirth owns a .925 save percentage and a .933 save percentage at 5 v 5, good for 11th among 45 eligible goaltenders (minimum 1,000 minutes).

At full-strength Neuvirth has stopped pucks at a better rate than the likes of Ben Bishop, Jonathan Quick, Braden Holtby and Tuukka Rask, among many others.

Obviously Neuvirth hasn’t had the same kind of work load, but he’s been excellent when given the opportunity and, alongside Mason, has helped give the Flyers a chance to win every night.
